Mendoza, Argentina: Language
and Culture Program
Traveling to Argentina gave me the confidence to travel more in
the future.
My time here was a tremendous learning experience.
Living here in a time of economic crisis was enlightening, a good
counter-perspective to life in wealthy California.
This is an amazing opportunity that everyone should
step out and do. It allowed me to open my mind to another culture
and another world. This experience allowed me to learn so much
about myself and others, and it has broadened my perspective on
life and the world.
It was awesome! I don’t think that you can
really learn a language until you are immersed in it. It was so
much easier to speak Spanish in Argentina than at Davis where
you are only studying the language for a couple of hours every
week.
This was the most fruitful quarter I have had in
my college career. I’ve gained greater appreciation for
other cultures and I have a clearer understanding of the distinct
differences in Latin American culture.
Perugia, Italy: Culture and Internship Program
This experience made me realize how ignorant I used to
be on certain world issues. I was reminded that there is a bigger
world out there!
I had always dreamed of living in Italy, and after
this experience, I really feel like I am part of my Italian heritage.
I enjoyed every minute of my time in Italy, from the siestas in
the afternoon to the discos at night. I cannot wait to return
some day.
In
Italy, I came into contact with so many different cultures and
people from all over the world. This whole experience has really
made my will to travel and experience different new things that
much stronger.
I have gained so much knowledge from this excursion
to Italy. I didn’t want to come home, because Perugia became
my new home. I made friends with so many fascinating people, and
now, I always have a place to stay when I am in Europe!
The Italy, UCD QA experience was great! It was by
far one of the best periods of my life. Not only did I get the
chance to meet people from many different parts of the world,
I was able to take home a new perspective about foreign cultures
and attitudes.
London, England: Culture and Internship
Program
My experience was awesome! Going to London gave me a completely
different perspective. I never knew there were so many differences
between the English and Americans!
I will come back a more enlightened individual with
a better understanding of world attitudes, and my capabilities
as an independent individual.
I learned a lot about myself and the world around
me. I realized that classroom education is nothing compared to
real world education. It has made me much more eager to go abroad
again.
I think that the UCD QA program was the perfect
fit! I made some memories that I will take with me throughout
the rest of my life.
