Program Eligibility

To be eligible for UC Davis Quarter Abroad, all applicants must:

  • Be registered as a full-time UC Davis student for the quarter in which you wish to participate. Students from other UC campuses may apply on a space available basis only, and are subject to Intercampus Visitor (ICV) regulations. Prior to applying, ICV students must contact the Quarter Abroad Coordinator at quarterabroad@ucdavis.edu for further instructions.
  • Be in good academic standing. Good academic standing is a cumulative GPA of a 2.00 or above and not on Academic Probation.
  • Be in good standing regarding conduct. For purposes of Quarter Abroad, good conduct standing means a student is not currently subject to disciplinary action by Student Judicial Affairs (SJA) and has not been previously disciplined by SJA for conduct that threatened the health or safety of self or others.
  • Meet any program specific requirements (See individual programs for details).

After acceptance students must:

  • Pay all program fees by applicable dates. (UCD Cashier's Office)
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA and good Academic standing
  • Complete all additional forms and necessary paperwork by the due dates. See the "Understanding of Additional Application Responsibilities Form" for specifics.
  • Attend all mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation Sessions. (Dates and locations will be provided in the Acceptance Letter.)

How to Apply

Note: Only complete application packets submitted online during the application dates will be considered! Please apply early! Applications are generally accepted on a first-come first-served basis and programs typically fill before the application deadline!

1. ON-LINE APPLICATION
The Application must be completed on-line and submitted via the internet (On-line Application) The completion of the on-line application determines your acceptance into the program, but you will be required to follow through with additional responsibilities before being allowed to participate in the program.

2. UNDERSTANDING OF ADDITIONAL APPLICATION RESPONSIBILITIES FORM
This form must be signed electronically and submitted on-line. You will be prompted to fill out this form once you have completed the online application. In sum, this form outlines the additional paperwork that will be required to remain enrolled in Quarter Abroad.

3. PASSPORT
A scanned color image of the photo and signature pages of your valid passport must be submitted online as part of your application. You will be prompted to submit this image once you have completed the online application. If you do not have access to a scanner, please feel free to come by the EAC and we will assist you. Dont have a passport???
That's ok! Please scan an image of your receipt from the post office showing that you paid the passport fees in leiu of the passport itself. When you receive your passport, you must update the image by logging back into your online application and uploading a scan of your new passport. For more information on getting a passport, please visit the U.S. State Department’s website at http://www.state.gov/.

Note: If you are applying for the Cuba Program, you must submit a scanned image of your valid passport (NOT a passport application) as part of your application or it will be considered incomplete- No exceptions.

If you are a non-U.S. citizen:
You must immediately contact the consulate of the country in which you intend to study to determine any specific requirements, which vary depending on the country of your citizenship. It is your responsibility to obtain any visas that you will require to participate on the Quarter Abroad program. You may find the nearest consulate by searching the Embassy.org Web site.

4. PROGRAM DEPOSIT FEE
The non-refundable deposit of $250.00 must be turned in to the Cashier's Office, 1200 Dutton Hall. You may pay in person or mail to: Cashier's Office, University of California Davis, P.O. Box 989062, West Sacramento, California 95798-9062. Please turn in the UC Davis Quarter Abroad Deposit Payment Form with your payment. Please make checks payable to "UC Regents".

Note: If you are not accepted because the program is full, you will be refunded your $250.00 deposit.

5. SJA CLEARANCE FORM
All students must submit an SJA form that has been electronically signed. This form is submitted exactly like the Understanding of Additional Responsibilities Form and can only be signed when you have completed the on-line application component.

 

Note: Past judicial sanctions by Student Judicial Affairs will not necessarily disqualify a student from participation in Quarter Abroad. However, the nature and number of past judicial sanctions will be carefully considered before an applicant is approved.

You will not be counted or approved as a participant until all 5 items listed above have been submitted.
