Bienvenidos! This specialized program will offer students the opportunity to take UCD classes on transnational (US-Mexico) health issues and participate in internships in hospitals and clinics in Oaxaca, Mexico! The courses offered through this program are designed to provide students with cultural competencies that are crucial for effective health care professionals. This program is also designed to provide in-depth clinical experience that will not only lead to greater Spanish fluency, but help participants clarify career goals in myriad of health professions.

Orientations

There will be at least two mandatory pre-departure orientation sessions in Davis, followed by an online orientation before departure and an in-country orientation in Oaxaca. The support staff in Oaxaca will provide students with all logistical information such as rotation/class schedules and homestay information upon arrival.

Academics

The program will be structured to cater for a class of less than 30 students with a fixed curriculum for the quarter, for a total of 20 units of credit. This structure will allow for lectures, discussions, an excursion and internship.
