Global Leadership, Internships, and Research

Millennium Fellowship in Partnership with the United Nations

Free worldwide leadership development program for undergraduate students focusing on addressing United Nations goals. Benefits include: certificate, network with global leaders, leadership training, and experience with community social change. The program will run virtually from August – November 2021, with cohorts of 8-20 students on each campus around the world. Priority Application Deadline: January 31. Questions?

2020-21 MENASA Women's Leadership Council

Requirements: Identify as Middle Eastern/North African/South Asian woman involved in a registered student organization. Commit to attending two meetings per month, 1-2 guest speaker events per quarter, and as many planned Action Events as possible. Deadline: December 10.

32nd Annual Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Conference

Each year, UC Davis undergraduates in all academic fields are invited to submit an abstract and registration information to participate in the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Conference. Abstract submission and registration information will be accepted beginning January 7, 2021.

Omprakash Ethical Global Engagement Grants

Omprakash Ethical Global Engagement Grants support travel, living, and Omprakash tuition expenses for exceptional candidates. This grant applies to the Widening Circles Global Social Impact Internships program. Recipients join the online learning community and volunteer or intern for 3+ months with one (or more) Omprakash international Partner organizations.

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace James C. Gaither Junior Fellowship

This program is designed to provide a substantive work experience for students interested in international affairs. Work at Carnegie in Washington, D.C. for one year after graduation with a $42,000 annual salary and full benefits. Complete and submit the application to Scott Palmer. Deadline: December 15.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships

Fellowship for intensive language study of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer, or Burmese at the advanced level in approved language programs in East or Southeast Asia. Includes stipend for living, travel, and study expenses; and full tuition for programs. Deadline: December 30.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship

$30,000 towards a public service graduate degree, Truman Scholars Leadership Week, and an eight-week Summer Institute in Washington D.C. For juniors who plan to go to graduate school before applying themselves to careers in government, civic, or public service.  Info Session Zoom Recording. Campus Deadline: January 5.

Council of American Overseas Research Centers Multi-Country Research Fellowship

This fellowship, with an award of $11,500, supports advanced regional or trans-regional research in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences for U.S. doctoral candidates, and scholars who hold a PhD. Scholars must carry out research in two or more countries outside the United States. Deadline: January 12.

2021 Mellon Public Scholars

UC Davis Humanities Institute invites applications from doctoral and MFA students in the arts, humanities, and humanistic social sciences. Each student will work with a faculty partner to develop a community-based research project and receive a $7,500 stipend. Info Session: December 15. Deadline: January 15.

Donald A. Strauss Scholarship

Scholarships of $15,000 are available to sophomore and junior level students of any citizenship status with a desire to “make a difference” in local, national, or international communities. Recipients implement a sustainable public service project anywhere in the world. Info Session Zoom Recording. Campus Deadline: February 1.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Fellowship for Undergraduates

June 14 – July 23, 2021. This program takes place at Howard University and provides undergrads with a deeper appreciation of current issues in international affairs and skills to pursue related careers. Includes tuition, travel to/from Washington D.C., housing, two meals/day, and a $3,200 stipend. Deadline: February 9.
