Professor Fathallah joined UC Davis in 1999 as assistant professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, where he is currently professor and graduate program chair. He received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1995, his M.S. from Virginia Tech University in 1988, and his B.S. from Texas Tech University in 1986. In 2009 and 2010, he received the Outstanding Manuscript Reviewer Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE) Journal of Agricultural Safety and Health. 

In 2000, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) in recognition of Exemplary Service to the People of California for Outstanding and Creative Teamwork: UC Agricultural Ergonomics Research Center. 

Fathallah’s internationally-related service activities include his service on the Senate’s Committee on International Studies and Exchanges; his assistance with the establishment of the institutional consortium with four universities in the Middle East and UC Davis (known as the BCBCB consortium); his assistance in hosting and facilitating meetings for several faculty members who visited UC Davis from several consortium institutions; and his previous position as the UC EAP Study Center Director (SCD) at the American University in Cairo.
