The Global Learning Conference is an opportunity for students from all majors and backgrounds to explore their identity in a rapidly globalizing world. Reflect on your intercultural or international experiences, and incorporate them into your career search, LinkedIn, and more while exploring possible future opportunities. This is a great opportunity to connect with professionals in various fields, explore your interests, and connect with students like you that are interested in all things global!

• When: Saturday, April 2, 2022, 8:45 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
• Where: International Center, UC Davis (in-person only)
• Registration: $15 ($20 for non-Davis students) and gets you catered lunch, refreshments, professional headshots, networking, prizes, conference materials and much more!

Global Learning Conference Welcome and Keynote: Sandy Holman, Culture C.O.-O.P.

Sandy Holman is the founder of Culture C.O.-O.P., which promotes systemic change, inclusion, equity, cultural competency, diversity, and quality education for all. She is a UC Davis Alumna and a fearless advocate of dismantling inequitable systems and racist practices, resilience and the importance of culturally relevant services.

Morning Concurrent Session 1: Vision Boarding as a Manifestation Tool

Participate in a fun and creative exercise designed to guide you as you reflect on your global experiences and think about how you will apply them moving forward. Vision boards can serve as a powerful tool for identifying your values and applying them moving forward in our interconnected world.

Morning Concurrent Session 2: How to Become a Digital Nomad

With remote work here to stay, we have the opportunity to work from anywhere. Hear experiences and tips for successfully starting a digital nomad career. We will explore the benefits of the digital nomad lifestyle and specific skills that will allow you to be successful in the digital and intercultural professional space.

Morning Concurrent Session 3: “Take a Stand” as a Globally-Minded Citizen!

Through an interactive exercise that elicits participant responses to global issues, participants grow in their awareness of how we make meaning and the critical importance of personal experiences. Group participation, discussion and reflection around our global selves aim to prompt awareness and action.

Afternoon Concurrent Session 1: Utilizing LinkedIn to Showcase Your Global Learning Experiences

Learn about the key elements of a LinkedIn profile and how to establish your professional presence online. Explore how LinkedIn can showcase your global skills and experiences to connect you with employers seeking globally engaged people to join their team. You will have the tools to get the best from LinkedIn and start building your network.

Afternoon Concurrent Session 2: Exploring Careers in Global Policy

Hear from staff who have worked for the U.S. Department of State, the United Nations, and non-governmental organizations to advance peace and security and human rights. Learn about pathways for these careers, opportunities, challenges, and professional competencies that are important to develop.

Afternoon Concurrent Sessions 3: Post-Graduation Opportunities Abroad for U.S. Citizens

Are you looking to go overseas after you graduate? This session will showcase opportunities sponsored by the U.S. government—Peace Corps, Fulbright, and the Critical Language Scholarship. Open to U.S. citizens only per the programs' eligibility requirements.

Career Skills Plenary

​​​​​​​This plenary will focus on career prep through a global lens. Learn the skills and experience employers are looking for and how they use LinkedIn to find talent. We will cover tips for acing your interview questions and more. Make yourself stand out to global and multinational employers.

Structured Networking Sessions

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Connect in small groups with professionals from various fields. Options include rooms for STEM fields, Business & Entrepreneurship, Education, Community Development and Nonprofits, and Public Service, International Development and Government.
