UC Davis Named Top Producer of Gilman Scholars
For the second time in the past three years, UC Davis has been recognized as a top producer of Gilman Scholars for the 2018–19 academic year—with the university producing the third highest number of Gilman Scholars, at 51, among all U.S. universities with over 15,000 undergraduates.

When the Yolo Food Bank began running a new delivery service to meet the increased need for food in Davis and its surrounding communities in Yolo County during the COVID-19 pandemic, UC Davis delivered volunteers, including staff members, undergraduate students, and visiting Hubert H. Apply to be an instructor or mentor for Women in Tech. This program aspires to help displaced women obtain technical and life-long skills to build their professional career. Fall courses offered: Python, Web Development, and Business Analytics. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

Truman Center for National Policy Fellows, Virtual
Open to undergrad and graduates, the fellow will support work in national security and foreign policy on pressing matters including climate security and nuclear non-proliferation. Global Affairs Global Centers, Latin America and Caribbean Internship
The virtual Global Centers for Latin American and Caribbean intern will work closely with the Faculty Director and Global Centers team to support information sharing and coordination on campus and in the region, facilitate relevant student and faculty opportunities, and conduct outreach to develop partnerships. Deadline: August 28.
Global Affairs Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Internship
The virtual SDG intern will map projects to identify and catalog research, teaching, and service on SDGs at UC Davis. Responsibilities include managing contact lists, assisting with strategies to involve faculty and students, organizing events, and liaising with student groups to build awareness about the SDGs. Deadline: August 28.
EPIK (English Program in Korea)
Affiliated with the Korean Ministry of Education, EPIK works to improve the English speaking abilities of students and teachers in Korea and foster cross cultural exchange. Positions are available throughout South Korea. Applications opened August 1 for Spring 2021 placements starting in February, March, and April. There is no deadline, but applicants are encouraged to apply early.
Competitions, Challenges, and Funding
Undergraduate Research Center (URC) – “Discovery Café” Advising Series
August 12-24. Discovery Café Series provides guidance and support to UC Davis undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing an undergraduate research opportunity. Learn about how to get involved in research, including remote research opportunities, for STEM fields, humanities, cultural studies, social sciences, and more.
The Zero Hunger Pathways Project
This is a new initiative of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network-USA, which aims to achieve SDG 2 using a systems approach to end hunger in the United States by 2030. You are encouraged to fill out the faculty, staff, and students interest Survey. Deadline: August 16.

International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD)
September 21-22, Virtual. ICSD is free and it provides a forum to share practical solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) There 10 “Plenary and Parallel” sessions and 4 “Poster Sessions,” each with a separate registration window.
