Global Aggies Blog: Language, Culture and Science—Documenting Dairy Farming in California
Spending the summer documenting animal management practices on California dairy farms was both eye-opening and rewarding for Ph.D. student Christian Bernal-Córdoba. From navigating cultural and language barriers to witnessing the real-world impact of antimicrobial use, this experience deepened Christian's research and reinforced the power of lived expertise in shaping sustainable solutions.

The Global Impact Fellows Program is a one-year commitment to leading or assisting a student-led initiative that addresses a global+local issue where students can hone project management, leadership and specific technical skills in an environment where they have real autonomy. HKUST (GZ) Playshop for Language and Cultural Exchange (PLACE)
Explore culture, language, sports and science in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, August 10-23 with HKUST (GZ) PLACE. Program fee waivers are available for up to 15 UC Davis students who are U.S. citizens, with possible additional assistance towards airfare. Fee waivers for students of other nationalities may be available. Deadline: May 30.
Imagining America’s Joy of Giving Something (JGS) Fellowship
The goals of the JGS Fellows Program are to elevate photography and digital media as pathways for undergraduate students to pursue their careers and make a difference in their communities. Fellows receive $2,000 tuition scholarships, mentorship and financial support for a community project. Deadline: July 14.

St Andrews Study Abroad Award
The St Andrews Study Abroad Award supports participation in the UCEAP University of St Andrews program. This award is open to UC Davis students who plan to attend the semester or academic year program at the University of St Andrews in the 2025-26 application cycle. Award amount up to $7,000. Apply. UCEAP Internship Award Winners Announced
UCEAP Internship Awards recognize students who have distinguished themselves while acquiring career training and workplace skills on a study abroad program. Join us in celebrating UC Davis student Chloe Montgomery, recipient of the 2024–25 UCEAP Internship Award! Chloe discovered a passion for ecology during her internship at the University of Sydney. U21 RISE Student Sustainable Development Goals Showcase Competition

Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in England
The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity to pursue a master’s or doctoral program at the University of Oxford in England for one to three years. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or greater and be age 18-27. Pre-application Deadline: June 30.
Marshall Scholarship
The Marshall Scholarship provides full funding for master’s or Ph.D. programs at any university in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland) for one-to-two years. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or greater. Pre-application Deadline: June 30.
Fulbright U.S. Student Program
This program offers annual awards for U.S. citizens who will have bachelor’s degrees by the 2025-26 academic year to conduct research, study or teach English in over 140 countries worldwide. Schwarzman Scholars
Receive a full scholarship for a one-year graduate program (M.A. in Global Affairs) at Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Scholars will study and live at Schwarzman College and partake in a core curriculum focusing on public policy, economics and business or international relations. Deadline: September 10.

Punjabi Week Celebration Event
May 19–23. Join a week-long celebration of Punjabi history. Learn the history and stories of Punjabi farmers in California and how they contributed to the transformation of California agriculture. There will be different events throughout the week, including music, food and film.
La Gran Tardeada

Luce Scholars Info Session

Join this info session to learn about the Luce Scholars Program, which provides leadership training, stipends, language training and individualized professional placement in Asia for 18 scholars each year. This transformational program is experiential rather than academic and is not intended for those seeking research funding. Register.

Black Family Day 2025
May 24, 12–8 p.m., UC Davis Quad. For over 50 years, Black Family Day has been a free annual event where students and families gather to celebrate Black excellence, empowerment and community at UC Davis. Enjoy live performances, food vendors, a children’s fair, student orgs and NPHC’s Stompfest. All are welcome at this joyful, inclusive celebration of Black culture and community.
