The Global Learning Award application functions as an opportunity to submit a single application for a selection of UC Davis Global Learning award offerings. The available awards are listed below. All awards are open to continuing UC Davis undergraduate students. Each award has specific eligibility criteria, but all awards have the same submission requirements.
Global Learning Award Application - Overview Presentation
Guardian Scholars Study Abroad Award
The Guardian Scholars Study Abroad Award wishes to provide support to UC Davis undergraduate students who are studying abroad in programs offered by the Global Learning Hub. Award recipients must be a registered Guardian Scholar and demonstrate unmet financial need.
Eligibility
- Open to continuing UC Davis undergraduate students
- Applicants must be registered with the Guardian Scholars Program
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need
Marc Blanchard Comparative Literature Undergraduate Travel Award
The Marc Blanchard Comparative Literature Undergraduate Travel Award aids undergraduate students who wish to study abroad and have demonstrated financial need. The award supports student who have expressed interest in one or more of the following areas: Art History, Comparative Literature, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish.

- Applicants must demonstrate financial need
- Applicant must show interest in one of the following areas: Art History, Comparative Literature, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish.
Marion I. Froehlich Education Abroad Award
The Ms. Marion I. Froehlich Education Abroad Award Support Fund aids undergraduate students studying abroad in programs offered through the UC Davis Global Learning Hub. The award supports student who have demonstrated financial need, transferred from a community college, and wish to study in a non-English speaking country and/or a developing country.
Eligibility
- Open to continuing UC Davis undergraduate students
- Applicants must be a transfer student from a community college
- Applicant must participate in a program held in a non-English speaking or developing country*
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need

- Ireland - Bio Sci 2A on the Emerald Isle
- United Kingdom - In Search of Scotland
- United Kingdom - Oxford on Film

Susan Toulson Study Abroad Award
The Susan Toulson Study Abroad Award provides support to undergraduate students studying abroad through the UC Davis Global Learning Hub. The award gives preference to undergraduate students in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Letters and Science who plan to study or work in international business, international relations, history, or design.
Eligibility
- Open to continuing UC Davis undergraduate students
- Applicants must be in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences or the College of Letters and Sciences
- Applicant must plan to study or work in international business, international relations, history, and/or design
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need
Submission Details
Award Amount
- Awards will range from $500 to a maximum of $1000
- Award amounts and total number of recipients will depend on the availability of funding, the size of the applicant pool, and the duration of the program
Award Timeline
- Application Open: December 4, 2023
- Application Deadline: January 23, 2024
- Award Notification: February 9, 2024
Application and Consideration
- An essay up to 500 words responding to the prompt: Discuss how funding will support your participation in a Global Learning program and its impact on your personal, professional, and academic goals.
- Financial need, as determined by a FAFSA or Dream Act application, as well as unmet need, as reported by UC Davis Financial Aid
