UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest

The annual UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest aims to recognize and celebrate student photography taking place on the many study abroad programs offered throughout the year through the Global Learning Hub. The deadline to submit photos is in early fall quarter, but we encourage students to submit their favorite photos on a rolling basis as programs conclude. Flywire Charitable Foundation 2022 Academic Scholarship

$5,000 scholarships are available for undergraduate, graduate and post-secondary students related to the following themes: Global Health, Global Citizenship, Social Justice, and Environmental Sustainability. The scholarship application is open to all majors and matriculating and currently enrolled students are welcome to apply. Deadline: June 17.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers 2,200 annual awards for U.S. citizens who will have bachelor’s degrees by the 2023-24 academic year to conduct research, study or teach English (ETA) in over 140 countries worldwide. Deadlines: September 8 (study/research) and September 15 (ETA). Apply.

PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival on Migration, Diversity and Social Inclusion

​​​​​​​PLURAL+ recognizes young people as powerful agents of social change and invites those under 25 years old to submit a video between one-five minutes on themes of migration, diversity, social inclusion and the prevention of xenophobia. Past winners. Deadline: June 17.

Pitching Peace Youth Music Challenge

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​To mark the fourth anniversary of Securing Our Common Future, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs is launching the Pitching Peace Youth Music Challenge, inviting those ages 13–29 to express their passion for peace through music. The winner will receive a token grant of up to $500. Learn more and apply. Deadline: August 12.

International Rescue Committee (IRC) Summer Internships in Sacramento

IRC Sacramento is recruiting for Summer and Fall 2022 interns in a variety of areas. This is a great opportunity to earn experience in the nonprofit sector serving the global community at the local level. Start and end dates are flexible and positions can be in-person, remote or hybrid.

International Rescue Committee (IRC) Youth Programs Internship in Sacramento

Help newly-arrived refugee teens get off to a strong start in the U.S. IRC Sacramento needs motivated interns to support newly arrived immigrants in one-on-one/small group tutoring and mentoring sessions this fall. Sessions will be three days per week, for ten weeks after school on high school campuses. Apply.

New Roots Program Internship and Volunteer Opportunities

The New Roots program at the International Rescue Committee in Sacramento is accepting applications for an Education and Outreach assistant, Farm and Garden Assistant, and Farmers Market assistant. New Roots serves refugees in Sacramento through a variety of urban farming, food security and nutrition education programs. Apply.

Sacramento Immigrant Welcome Center: Volunteers Needed

Sacramento’s Immigrant Welcome Center provides food security to newly arrived refugees and immigrants with support from local faith-based organizations and food banks. Volunteer during our weekly food distributions on Thursdays 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Questions?

Imagining America National Gathering: Call for Participation

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Imagining America consortium brings together scholars, artists, designers, humanists and organizers to imagine, study and enact a more just and liberatory ‘America’ and world. Submit a proposal to address the theme of Rituals of Renewal and Repair for a gathering in New Orleans this October. Deadline: June 10.

Summer Language Classes Offered by the I-House

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​June 27–July 8. Meet new friends through the I-House with in-person and virtual drop-in language conversation classes. Classes are taught in a warm, welcoming environment by volunteer instructors. Sign-up for a student membership to join classes and events.

Imagining America’s Publicly Active Graduate Education (PAGE) 2022-23 Graduate Fellowship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This program invites graduate students to participate in a year-long working group in support of collaborative artmaking, teaching, writing, storytelling and co-creating knowledge with and within the community. PAGE Fellows receive a $500 honorarium, as well as lodging and a waived registration fee to attend the 2022 PAGE Summit in New Orleans, LA. Deadline: July 1.

Virtual Student Federal Service Internships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​September–May. Virtual interns are partnered with U.S. diplomatic posts and domestic federal offices to conduct digital diplomacy that reflects the realities of our networked world. Students work remotely on projects for up to 10 hours per week and can have a flexible schedule during the school year. Applications opens in July. View projects.
