From Classroom to Clinic—My Internship Abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico
First-generation student Melanie Gallegos-Campos, a global disease biology major and Chicana/Chicano studies minor, shared her experience studying abroad in Mexico where she embarked on her Latinx health internship. Melanie embraced a quarter abroad that was filled with clinical observations, cultural exchanges and personal growth.

Valeria Becerra Angulo is an International Relations major with minors in French, Human Rights, and Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning. During 2023, she studied European politics abroad in France and was exposed to a variety of cultures and newfound friendships. Her advice to students who are considering studying abroad? “Just do it!”
Finding Global Community at UC Davis and Beyond
Rikiya Hatano returned to Davis in January 2023 to continue working towards a Bachelor of Science in International Agricultural Development. Getting involved with campus programs, Hatano took up the role of a Global Ambassador Mentor Fellow program and found community through the program and later applied to be a mentor himself.

UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest
The annual UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest recognizes and celebrates student photography taking place on the many study abroad programs offered throughout the year. The deadline to submit photos is in early fall quarter, but we encourage students to submit their favorite photos on a rolling basis as programs conclude. Top prizes (for all winners and finalists): gift cards ranging from $25-$200!

Imagining America’s Publicly Active Graduate Education (PAGE) Fellowship
This program invites graduate students to participate in a year-long working group in support of collaborative artmaking, teaching, writing, storytelling and co-creating knowledge with and within community. PAGE Fellows receive a $500 honorarium. Deadline: June 14.
Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program
The HACU National Internship Program fall session is for 15 weeks with placement at federal agencies in Washington, D.C., field offices nationwide or remotely. Internships are available to currently enrolled undergraduate, graduate and recently graduated students in any major. Apply. Deadline: June 28.

Global Challenge Lab 2024
Join students from all over the world for Global Challenge Lab 2024, a 14-day virtual program of innovation and entrepreneurship workshops, guest speakers and mentoring to help you develop innovative ideas in the fields of climate change and smart cities. Deadline: June 15.
Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in England
The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity to pursue a master’s or doctoral program at the University of Oxford in England for one to three years. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or greater, be ages 18-27 and have completed a bachelor’s degree by summer 2024. Pre-application Deadline: June 30.
Marshall Scholarship
The Marshall Scholarship provides full funding for master’s or Ph.D. programs at any university in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland) for one-to-two years. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or greater. Pre-application Deadline: June 30.
Fulbright U.S. Student Program
This program offers annual awards for U.S. citizens who will have bachelor’s degrees by the 2024-25 academic year to conduct research, study or teach English in over 140 countries worldwide. Learn more about eligibility, timeline and requirements. Campus Deadline: September 10.
Schwarzman Scholars
Receive a full scholarship for a one-year graduate program (MA in Global Affairs) at Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Scholars will study and live at Schwarzman College and partake in a core curriculum focusing on public policy, economics and business or international relations. Deadline: September 12.
