Program Overview
Spend six weeks this summer interning in Barcelona—one of the world's most electric, innovative cities, where an entrepreneurial, open economy has made it an unbeatable meeting point for international business. As an intern, you'll gain marketable, real-world skills while learning what it means to work in a global professional context, with placements tailored to your interests across fields like accounting, finance, advertising, communication, marketing, public relations, international trade, logistics, hospitality and tourism, and more. Host companies range from scrappy startups to major global players, drawn to Barcelona's reputation as a European hub for business and innovation.
You'll spend five days a week at your internship, plus about two hours weekly on an online course led by a UC Davis instructor. Along the way, weekly discussion groups, small group activities, and a variety of events will help you integrate into the city, your cohort, and your internship—all while soaking up Barcelona's unbeatable mix of Gaudí's surreal architecture, Mediterranean beaches, and vibrant Catalan culture.

What Students Are Saying
- “I found Barcelona to have an excellent work-life balance and never felt like I did not get to see things because of my internship. The cultural activities included in the program also allowed me to bond with my fellow peers at UC Davis and the other UCs, creating friendships that I know will endure.”
- “Being an intern overseas allowed me to broaden my horizon and start viewing things from a global perspective.”
- “If I was in my hometown doing this internship, I would have never gotten the opportunity to talk to business professionals from so many different countries and hear so many life stories. My understanding of people in where they are from is significantly broadened, and I am so thankful for that.”
