Becoming a Global Professional: How to Prepare for Careers in an Interdependent World

Course Overview

We all share an interdependent world where living, learning, and working transcend traditional disciplinary, cultural and geographic borders. Becoming a Global Professional will introduce students from all majors to professional skills and qualities that will help translate academic learning into diverse and interconnected workplaces: cultural humility, resilience, adaptive thinking, and intercultural communication, among others. Such skills and qualities define global professionals and will help prepare you to make a difference and to stand out as you pursue work and/or education beyond graduation. 

This one-unit Summer Session I seminar on Becoming a Global Professional is open to students in both the lower and upper divisions from all majorsStudents who need one additional credit to qualify for summer financial aid will find this course to be a great complement to just about any course of study.

Course Highlights

  • Participate in workshops to construct resumes that reflect global and intercultural experiences and skills;
  • develop networking skills;
  • build a global professional profile;
  • attend presentations by guest global professionals from a variety of fields and backgrounds; and
  • analyze readings and access resources focused on global career development.

Registration

UC Davis students will need to register for UC Davis Summer Session courses using the Schedule Builder within MyUCDavis.
