Get to Know Your Destination

Strasbourg is the capital city of the Grand Est (Great East) region of France. Located near the German border, you’ll notice both French and German influence in culture and architecture among the city. One of the unique aspects of the city is how the Ill River flows through a series of locks and channels, through the old city where waters once powered tanneries and mills. Take a boat tour on the canal to experience the city from the water. Aside from its setting, Strasbourg is one of the four main capitals of the European Union and is the seat of several European institutions including the European Parliament and the Council of Europe with the European Court of Human Rights.

Study Abroad Advisory of Student Risk

Participation in this UC Davis Study Abroad program requires travel to and live, for an extended period, in a foreign location(s) abroad. UC Davis Study Abroad endeavors to reduce and mitigate risk wherever possible.  However, the environments and risks associated with living in these locations are substantially different than those found during a regular course of study at UC Davis. All participants must download and review the following information prior to departure. Any questions should be directed to the Program Coordinator.
