Program Overview
Pediatric Care and Reproductive Health Summer Abroad Internship provides students interested in healthcare with an immersive experience grounded in cultural exchange, ethical global health, and global citizenship. Based in Accra, Ghana, students observe clinical care within local health systems while exploring the social, economic, and cultural factors that influence health outcomes. Participants shadow local medical professionals at Ghana's only public hospital dedicated exclusively to pediatric care, gaining exposure to pediatrics, maternal and child health, infectious diseases, rehabilitative care, and adult medicine. Students may also rotate through specialized clinics and visit nonprofit organizations focused on family planning and sexual and reproductive health. Through these experiences, you'll gain a deeper understanding of healthcare delivery in a resource-limited setting while developing intercultural competence. The program is provided by Child Family Health International (CFHI).
