Class Format

You will have class during the week at a classroom at the Department of Psychology on the University of Bologna campus.

Courses

You will enroll in the course set below. Auditing is not an option. UC Davis programs are academic programs so participants should expect a substantial amount of course work.

  • Psychology (PSC) 135. Cognitive Neuroscience: The Biological Foundations of the Mind (4 units)
  • Neuroscientific foundations of higher mental processes including attention, memory, language, higher-level perceptual and motor processes, and consciousness. Emphasis on the neural mechanisms which form the substrates of human cognition and the relationship of mind to brain. PSC 101 or PSC 121 recommended.
  • Psychology (PSC) 198. Directed Group Study (4 units, Pass/No Pass grading only)
  • Directed group study. This course includes participation on excursions and tours and attendance to guest lectures. Students are often asked to write reflective pieces. Assignment topics vary by program.

Prerequisites

Along with the general eligibility requirements, Study Abroad will be enforcing the completion of the following prerequisites. For non-UC Davis students, the equivalent at your campus:

Psychology (PSC) 001 or Psychology (PSC) 001Y and Psychology (PSC) 041

Prerequisites can only be waived by individualized consent of instructor—please contact the instructor if you wish to discuss this option. Please note that you will be required to submit proof of prerequisites waived when submitting your enrollment. Failure to complete unwaived prerequisites prior to program departure can result in administrative withdrawal and fees owed accordingly.
