Accommodations
You will stay in apartment style accommodations with shared rooms, shared fully furnished kitchens, and shared bathrooms about an 18-20 minute walk to the Psychology department where class is held. The apartments are air conditioned and include a washing machine. The overnight in Venice includes shared rooms in a hotel.
UC Davis may have to change the accommodation location and type. Should this be necessary, we will arrange alternative lodging. Please note that elevators, air conditioners, WiFi and other conveniences may not be available in all locations.
Accommodations for your program may include same-gender or mixed-gender housing and rooms may be shared with one or more students. You may request a roommate, and we will do our best to consider mutual requests when making housing assignments and/or sharing them with our program partners. However, please note that roommate requests cannot be guaranteed, as housing arrangements depend on availability and local accommodations.
Meals
A welcome dinner and a farewell dinner and one group lunch are included in the program fee.
All other meals are not included so you can choose to experience Italy’s cuisine or shop for groceries and use the kitchens provided at your accommodation.
Excursions and Day Trips
Through a local partnership, there is about one activity a week included in the program. Tentative activities include:
- City tour of Bologna
- Afternoon trip to Ravenna
- Afternoon trip to Modena
- Cooking class
- Overnight trip to Venice

Get to Know Your Destination
From Lonely Planet Bologna: Fusing elegance with down-to-earth grit, Bologna is a city of two halves. One side is a hard-working, high-tech city located in the super-rich Po valley where suave opera-goers waltz out of regal theatres and into some of the nation's finest restaurants. The other is a bolshie, politically edgy city that hosts the world's oldest university and is famous for its graffiti-embellished piazzas filled with students swapping Gothic fashion tips. Bologna celebrates a rich food legacy, is home to the city university founded in 1088, and is a city of terra cotta medieval buildings adorned with miles of porticoes.
Study Abroad Advisory of Student Risk
Participation in this UC Davis Study Abroad program requires travel to and extended living in a foreign location(s) abroad. UC Davis Study Abroad endeavors to reduce and mitigate risk wherever possible. However, the environments and risks associated with living in these locations are substantially different than those found during a regular course of study at UC Davis. All participants must download and review the following information prior to departure. Any questions should be directed to the Program Coordinator.
